How to swim with a wig on?

As already mentioned, you can comfortably swim with your cheap wig on. Here are some of the best hacks that can help you.

1. Test wig glue used to install the wig

Of course, the last thing you want is your wig falling off your head when swimming. You must ensure that the wig is installed firmly on your head. You must ensure that you use a waterproof glue or adhesive to install the wig to ensure that the trim of the lace will not flip out in the water. So, the first thing you need to do before you jump into the pool is to test your glue.

If possible, you can test your glue first in your bathtub or in a pool with no anyone around. You can even take a long bath to ascertain whether or not the glue used to install the wig is waterproof or not. If you notice that the wig’s hair strands are a bit loose, you should consider reinstalling the wig or avoid going to swim with the wig directly.

Moreover, you should allow adhesives to completely dry before you jump into the water. Of course, only high-quality adhesives and glue will not loosen the wig even if you stay longer in the pool. So do your research for high-quality water-proof adhesives available in the market.

2. Style your wig

Now that you have tested the glue used to install your lace front wig and have confirmed that it can withstand swimming, it is time to style your wig. If you have long hair, you can style your wigs into braids and ponytails because they are the perfect styles for swimming. That’s because they can help prevent your hair from getting tangled or matted. In addition, short bob wigs are ideal for swimming as you can hide all short hair in the swimming cap pretty much easier.

3. Wear a swim cap

Of course, you cannot afford to jump into the pool without putting on a wig cap. It is a lot safer to put on a swim cap when swimming. If you don’t want to expose your precious wig to the elements in the pool such as salt water, sunlight, and chlorine, it is better to put on a swim cap. It will protect your wig

In addition, it can also protect your wig from dirty water and provide that extra bit of security because it will hold everything in place, making sure that nothing is coming off. Getting into the water is all about having fun, relaxing, and staying active. But you will not enjoy it if you constantly worry that your wig may come off. This is where a swimming cap comes in; it will eliminate this worry because it holds the wig in place and provides extra security, making you swim without any worry.

4. Opt for a synthetic wig instead of a human hair wig

As already mentioned, overexposure to chlorine and salt can damage both human hair wigs and synthetic wigs. If you are going swimming and you want to rock a wig, it is best to wear a synthetic wig and not a human hair wig.

For starters, compared to affordable human hair wigs, synthetic wigs are lighter and they tend to hold their style and shape better when wet. In addition, synthetic wigs are way cheaper. This way, even if they get damaged by salty water or chlorine, you will not fill the pinch that much. These reasons make swimming with a synthetic wig on better than a human hair wig. However, this doesn’t mean that you cannot swim with a human hair wig. Better yet, you may consider installing an old wig instead of a new wig.

5. Use an elastic band to hold your wig in place

If you want to properly secure your wig, it’s best to use the elastic band.  This typically involves sewing an elastic band from one ear to another inside your wig cap and then wearing it across the nape to fasten the wig. If necessary, you can use bobby pins or clips along with the elastic band to provide you with extra security.

6. Wash and condition your wig once you finish swimming

Once you have finished swimming, you need to take good care of your deep wave hair wig. Since the wig has been exposed to chlorine, sand, and salty water, it is crucial for you to wash and condition it using the right products. This is to prevent any damage that can be caused by these elements. Even if your wig has a wig cap, it is still important to wash it thoroughly, so that you get rid of any leftover residue that may irritate your scalp.
